Fitz’s, O’Fallon Brewery team on second boozy soda, Hard Key Lime
A year after collaborating on a boozy root beer, O’Fallon Brewery and Fitz’s have teamed once again for new alcoholic craft soda: Hard Key Lime.
Brewed and bottled at O’Fallon Brewery’s facility in Maryland Heights, Hard Key Lime made with ale and Fitz’s Key Lime craft soda has 5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).
“We plan to re-launch root beer and key lime together the second Monday of March,” O’Fallon Brewery’s founder Jim Gorczyca said. “We are hoping that these become the local choice for St. Louis consumers who are looking for a sweeter, more drinkable beer.”
Earlier this year, O’Fallon Brewery and Fitz’s launched Fitz’s Hard Root Beer to tap into demand for alcoholic root beer. St. Louis-based Fitz’s Bottling Co. makes craft sodas and operates a restaurant and bottling plant in the Delmar Loop.
O’Fallon Brewery, one of St. Louis’ largest craft brewers, also recently introduced Big Walt, a 22-ounce commemorative beer featuring former professional hockey player Keith Tkachuk’s name and number 7 on the label.
Big Walt Beer, a 5 percent ABV blond-style beer, will soon be on draft in about 100 St. Louis area locations, Gorczyca said. It will also be sold at Ballpark Village during the NHL Winter Classic matchup between the Blues and Chicago Blackhawks next week.
